How It Works

How do we keep our prices so low?

When a store buys products from the manufacturer to stock on their shelves, they usually get a discount for ordering a certain amount.  Then, the store sells this same product for a higher cost which covers the business expenses of the store, the cost of buying products to stock shelves, and makes a profit for the store. 

At Mindful Life Shop, we work a little differently. Instead of stocking shelves, we have lists of available products online. We don’t have much overhead. We don’t buy ahead. 

We have accounts with the same manufacturers as the retail stores, but we meet the minimum orders by ordering together as a group. Each customer at the shop buys only the products he or she wants. 

When enough customers have ordered to meet the minimum order for that manufacturer, Mindful Life Shop places the order with the manufacturer. When the order comes in, it is sorted and shipped to the customers. Most of the time, this results in a savings of 20 to 50% for the customer.  This allows everyone to afford the products they love.

Start shopping! We literally have thousands of products available right now! However, because we are a small operation, you can’t see them all in our shopping area yet. So, in order to start saving your money, you may have to do a little extra foot work until we get everything entered in our system. If you’ve already looked in at our shopping area and didn’t find the products you need, the following steps should help you.

For right now, the best way to place an order is to look in your cabinets at home, and email us the names of the products you already know and love, when you are ready to order more.  We will then create a shopping cart entry for that item and you can use it to check out. 

If you are looking for a new product, the easiest way to do it right now is to go to our Product Lines page and click the links that take you through to the vendor’s websites. Look through the products there and when you have decided what you want, email it to us and we will create a shopping cart entry for you, which you can use to check out.

If you aren't quite sure what products you might be interested in, you can check out our message boards and get some feedback.  You can also check the message boards to find out about order minimums and how far away from reaching the minimum we are.

Check out! We have several convenient checkout options. You can pay using your credit card, PayPal account, check or money order. Our shopping cart will walk you right through the check out procedure. 

First, enter any coupon codes you may have.  You can also look up your coupon code to find out what it applies to.

Then, you can pay by selecting the check/money order option or with PayPal. If you use the check/money order option, you will need to put your check or money order in the mail within 24 hours. If you use PayPal, you will be routed to PayPal’s website to pay. 

You can enter any special instructions in the “Special Instructions or Order Comments” area. This area is where you will order product selection notes. For example, if a product listing says, “Choose from” then this is where you will put which choice you have made.

 

Shipping: Shipping is still being fine tuned. At the moment, each product is charging a percentage of your order total for shipping. As we work on the site, it will be adjusted to allow for shipping to be based on weight. So, as of right now, there are four possibilities  for shipping. 

The typical method is to leave the shipping radio dot selected and pay the percentage. However, the shipping price given may not be your end total for shipping. Heavy items may cost more than the percentage to ship. If this happens, we will have to invoice you for the extra shipping after the product arrives here to be shipped to you. On the flip side, a lighter order may come out with excessive shipping being charged. If that happens, we will refund you the difference when the products arrive and the correct shipping has been figured. Typically, we will not need to do either of these things and your percentage will be accurate.

Another option is to select the Store Pick Up, Walk In option. If you are local and select this option, you are more than welcome to arrange a time and come do just that!

Our local delivery option is another great option if you are in the local Kansas City/Independence area.  Select the Special Services tab and then the $5 Delivery to Kansas City Area choice.  Add it to your shopping cart and when you check out, select Store Pick Up, Walk In.  I will deliver to you (or to the person you have chosen) as soon as your order is in.  You can select as many locations as you like at $5 each, just enter a note at checkout telling me where to deliver which products.

The final option is for anyone who has their own UPS account. You can select the Store Pick Up, Walk In option, and in the Special Instructions area, leave me a note to ship this collect to your UPS account. You will pay no shipping at the site.  We will package your items, and arrange for a UPS pick up. UPS will deliver to you and charge you the exact shipping charge. This is THE MOST ACCURATE SHIPPING COST right now.

 

Confirm Order: Check to make sure all of your order information is correct, and click “Confirm the Order” at the bottom of this page. You will get an order success confirmation page to let you know that we have received your order! If this email does not arrive, we have not received the order.

Your order will be placed to Mindful Life Shop, along with all other orders. When we have reached the minimum order level for a vendor, Mindful Life Shop will place the order with that vendor. Some vendors have a dollar amount minimum; some have need a full case of a product to be ordered. We will place our orders as soon as the minimum has been met, to make for the fastest shipping times.  We will email to let you know when this order has been made. As soon as Mindful Life Shop receives the order, it will be packaged up and shipped to the individuals who placed the orders. This means that your order will take slightly longer to reach you than it would if we stocked the items in the store. Remember, this is one of the things that keep our prices so low – so you should remember to order early enough that waiting for the product isn’t stressful. If you purchase a product, and find that you cannot wait for us to place the minimum order, we will be happy to refund your money to you – if we have not already placed the order with the vendor. Simply email and ask for a refund.

 

One last note. Since there is very little profit to Mindful Life Shop on product orders, we cannot cover extra expenses. If a vendor has raised their pricing by a few cents since they have updated their catalogs, or if they charge shipping that hasn’t been accounted for in Mindful Life Shop pricing, we will have to invoice you for that cost when the product arrives. The cost is rarely more than $1 per item, normally doesn't include all of the items you have purchased, and doesn’t happen very often. But, until the store is completely fine-tuned, this will happen from time to time. We will not be able to ship your products until any of this type of invoice has been paid.
