How do you mentally block out noise?
- #1. Let go of what you thought would happen. Clinging to your expectations blocks out possibilities.
- #2. Be curious. Enter conversations and situations wanting to learn more than you already know.
- #3. Laugh it off. When you are laughing, your mind is clear of clutter.
- #4. Don’t give up.
How do you ignore noise when meditating? Breathe deeply, slowly, and when your mind becomes distracted by the noises around you, you return to your breath pattern, mantra, or prayer word. Another trick that I use when I’m meditating in loud places is that I slip headphones over my ears. I then focus my attention on a guided meditation or music.
Is it possible to meditate in a noisy place? It is possible to create a repetitive sound with a continuous noise. When you settle yourself to meditate focus on the sounds as if they come from an orchestra. Create a rhythm in your mind and use the noises as you would a chant. Use the noises as a focus on the meditation rather than a distraction away from it.

For focus, use focused-attention techniques. A “focused attention” meditation is any type of meditation where you focus on one thing, such as the breath. Spend ten minutes a day meditating, and you will greatly increase your concentration.
